Core connection
Less about gripping, more about how your middle organises itself under load.

What it is
Core connection is the sense that your ribs, pelvis and abdominal wall are working together for the task in front of you — no more, and no less, than the task requires.
Why we practise it
Gripping hard all the time is tiring and reduces your options. Learning to graduate effort means you can move well in easy positions and still have somewhere to go when it gets harder.
What to notice
- Whether you can still breathe while holding the position.
- If your abdominal wall domes or pushes outwards.
- How much effort is actually needed — try half as much and see.
Try this
In any exercise this week, do one repetition at what feels like 100% effort, then one at 50%. Notice which one you could actually control better.
